Stories from Lake Como
Onno and its white beaches
Onno is a hamlet of Oliveto Lario overlooking the Lecco branch. Its shores are known for their light pebbles, often called white beaches.
Not sand, but light pebbles
The name 'white beach' describes the luminous effect of the gravel and stones, not a stretch of sand. The contrast with the green and blue water creates one of the most Mediterranean stretches of the Lecco branch.
The coast is exposed to the sun from morning and alternates between free access points, small landings, and rocky areas. Services and beach management may change from season to season.
A coast to see from the water
Navigating between Onno and Vassena, one observes the village, the beaches, and the eastern slope of Moregallo. The shore appears more continuous and wild compared to the central lake towns.
The water can quickly become deep, and the afternoon wind can raise waves: any swim should be evaluated with the skipper.
