Mandello del Lario: lake, mountain, and Moto Guzzi

Mandello del Lario stands on the eastern shore, at the foot of the Grigna. The lakeside promenade, historic hamlets, and motorcycle tradition coexist in a very recognizable landscape.

The city of the eagle

Moto Guzzi was founded on March 15, 1921, by Carlo Guzzi, Giorgio Parodi, and Emanuele Vittorio Parodi. The historic factory in Mandello is still the heart of the brand. The eagle in the logo commemorates Giovanni Ravelli, an aviator and companion of the founders, who died in 1919.

The Moto Guzzi Museum preserves more than one hundred and fifty pieces, from the 1919 G.P. 500 prototype to the famous Otto Cilindri racing bike. Opening hours and visiting methods should be checked on the official website.

The village and the mountains

Mandello's shore alternates small harbors, beaches, and gardens. Not far away are the Romanesque church of San Giorgio and the hamlets on the slopes of the Grigna.

From the lake, the Grigna wall forms the backdrop to the town and allows one to understand the link between industry, mountains, and navigation that has shaped the local identity.
